Description
Krzysia Górniak String Orchestra is a unique project by guitarist and composer Krzysia Górniak, in which her original compositions take on a new, orchestral sound. The album is a selection of the most important pieces from the artist’s body of work to date, presented in arrangements for jazz trio and chamber string orchestra. The project has an acoustic character and is intended for presentation in concert halls and philharmonic halls. Jazz guitar improvisations are embedded in a rich, illustrative string texture that builds the drama, color, and sonic space. This is music is rooted in emotion, focus, and collective improvisation, in which the boundaries between soloist and ensemble become blurred. The album material comes from Krzysia Górniak’s four original albums: Emotions, Feelings, Moments, and Memories – cycle that forms a personal narrative about life, emotions, and the passage of time. The inspiration for creating this project came from the artist’s earlier concerts with string orchestras, which opened a new chapter in her creative exploration.Krzysia Górniak String Orchestra is a proposal for audiences who value jazz in concert format, illustrative music, and the dialogue between improvisation and the classical sound of an orchestra.
Krzysia Górniak about the album: “I present to you new versions of my compositions, arranged for a jazz guitar trio accompanied by a chamber string orchestra. The selection of songs I have made reflects my personal taste and holds deep personal significance for me – it tells the story of different stages of my life and addresses themes of transience and the search for the meaning of existence. An important element of this process is improvisation, during which, under the influence of immersing oneself in the rich colors and dynamics of such an expanded ensemble, the personal self—the ego—dissolves in the act of creation. This album is, for me, a summation of thirty years of artistic work—as a guitarist and a composer.”
