About the album Moments

The Moments album is fragments of life captured in sounds, it is illustrative music, saturated with emotions, inspiring reflection. The album opens with the lively Moments, where the calm, melodic, guitar theme is a counterbalance to the motor section, it is worth mentioning the brilliantly played drum part performed by Grzegorz Grzyb. Then we move to Spring, where the arpeggiated guitar dominates the theme, imitating nature in its first spring bloom. The composition Meditation is my favorite prayer, spacious, dynamic and reflective. The Storm Is Looming Ahead is a story about an approaching storm, we have the calm before the storm with light gusts of wind, then a storm and again the calm departure of the rain. On Moments we can hear new versions of E. Tzimkas’ compositions Your Smile I See and My Friends at Home, which appeared on my first album Tales. I really like these cheerful melodies in a sunny, Greek climate. We will also hear a new version of my composition Friendship played in a trio on acoustic guitar, the first version is released on the album Emotions. Despite the references to earlier releases, the album Moments has a coherent character, it can be listened to many times, it has a soothing and relaxing effect. Although it contains songs with a dynamic progression, it is dominated by melodic themes and virtuoso solo parts. The band’s sound refers to the ECM style, it is modern European playing….Krzysia Górniak

Review

A stunning album! Delicate and artistic smooth jazz meets the liveliness of good old fusion. Among the huge number of excellent albums released in Poland, the music offered by Krzysia Górniak and her band is a phenomenon that is as desirable as it is encountered once in a Russian year.

The nine instrumental tracks on ,,Moments” are a presentation of an individual style, in which delicate and artistic smooth jazz (yes, contrary to appearances, such a phenomenon occurs, although I am aware of how many negative connotations have grown around this trend) meets the liveliness of good old fusion. Krzysia Górniak is a super-efficient guitarist: absolutely not a single bad word can be said about her technique, articulation, phrasing and improvisational sense, endless streams of melodies pour out from under her fingers, bringing to mind – this, God forbid, no accusation, just a loose association – the early years of Pat Metheny: these are lyrical songs “sung” with the help of six steel strings;

Krzysia Górniak is, what is most important in all this, a sensitive author of songs that do great without words. The guitar is here only a medium – the source of musical content is the heart…

Review

“(…)All the musicians involved play excellently from start to finish and are given an opportunity to show their chops in solo parts, but Górniak is obviously the leader in charge and dictates the terms. Her guitar sound is sleek and demonstrates her absolute charge of the instrument. She is definitely different from all other guitar players on the Polish scene, and her unique approach to the instrument puts her in a class of her own. It seems that this album is somewhat more Fusion oriented than I expected, which is not that much evident in the guitar playing but more so in the parts played by the band behind. Luckily there is still enough of the Jazz feel on this album, to make it work within the Jazz framework. Górniak’s solos are kept carefully in check and don’t enter the typical race with the notes, which makes many Fusion albums hard to bear. Overall this is a wonderful guitar album, which should make guitar lovers wet their lips with delight, and which is also very accessible to a wide range of listeners, without making any compromises as far as the quality of compositions and performances are concerned. Combined with the superb sound quality the album offers, this is an album music lovers should not miss!”Adam Baruch about the album Moments, lipiec 2016, The Soundtrack Of My Life  read…
