Krzysia Górniak is an active guitarist and composer – that’s why the number of concerts the artist plays on Polish and foreign jazz stages is not surprising. The best, recommended way to track all upcoming events is to follow Krzysia’s Facebook profile.

Krzysia Górniak (born 1974) is one of the best jazz guitarists in Europe, a composer, producer, arranger, endowed with an extraordinary artistic personality. Since 1998, he has been giving concerts on festival and club stages in Poland and abroad, as well as in concert halls and theaters, including in Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Slovenia. Her way of playing is a combination of virtuosity and subtle femininity, she finds herself in many musical styles, moving freely in various conventions. He works with jazz musicians and also plays with symphony orchestras and string quartets. In addition to playing, he also paints and draws.

She has released 8 albums, including 6 of her own, where she is a composer, arranger and producer: “Tales” (2002), “Ultra” (2004), “Emotions” (2009), “Feelings” (2012), “Moments” (2016 ), “Memories” (2020). She participated in the release of 2 albums, where she played the role of guitarist, arranger and producer, these are “Garden Of Love” (2008) recorded with Szymon Pejski and “Tribute to Nat King Cole” (2015) created together with Maciej Miecznikowski, where Atom performed String Quartet.
In the plebiscite for 2018, readers of the Jazz Forum monthly placed Krzysie Górniak among the 10 best Polish jazz guitarists.

Collaborations with other musicians

Krzysia Górniak has collaborated with many well-known musicians. Among them are: Grzegorz Grzyb, Michał Jaros, Marcin Jahr, Michał Wróblewski, Maciej Miecznikowski, Kuba Badach, Ewa Mikulska, Szymon Pejski, Wojciech Gogolewski, Zdzisław Kalinowski, Paweł Pańta, Krzysztof ścierański, Wojtek Pilichowski, Michał Grott, Evangelos Tzimkas (Greece), Frank McCombe (USA). She also co-created the following bands: Event Horizon Msc and Garden of Love.

Theatre & Philharmonic

She began her professional music career in 1995 with the Orchestra of the Roma Musical Theater on the show Blue Castle of Roman Czubate directed by Jan Skotnicki, she played over 100 performances.

Currently, she participates in various projects and cooperates with symphony orchestras and conductors. with: the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Sopot under the direction of Wojciech Rajski, the Symphony Orchestra of the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic in Kielce under the direction of Maciej Tarnowski, the Symphony Orchestra of Karol Namysłowski under Tadeusz Wicherk, as well as with string quartets:
Atom String Quartet and Barock Quartet.

International Songwriting Competition

The composition of Krzysia Górniak “Blue” from the album “Ultra” in 2005 was in the finals of the International Songwriting Competition. The jury of the international competition were, among others Tom Waits, Joss Stone, Sonny Rollins, Macy Gray, John Scofield and Steve Vai, and out of 15,000 entries to the finals only 12 songs went through.

Music, Art & Philosophy

Krzysia Górniak studied at primary and secondary music schools. She graduated from the Art High School in Warsaw with the title of Exhibitor Technique (1993) and Post-secondary Jazz School at the Secondary State Music School F. Chopin in Warsaw on Bednarska in the jazz guitar class (1997). She was the first guitarist at the Jazz Department at Bednarska, for her the jazz guitar class was opened. In 2000, Krzysia obtained a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Warsaw defending her thesis on John Cage, and in 2003 – she obtained a Master’s degree in Art at the Jazz Department at Universiti für Musik und Darstellende Kunst (University of Music and Dramatic Art) in Graz ( Austria) in the jazz guitar class.

Currently, apart from artistic activities and music projects, she is receiving a PhD from the Faculty of Humanities (University of Music in Warsaw).

Krzysia Górniak has participated in lessons and workshops with such musicians as: Wayne Brasel, Wynton Marsalis, Mike Stern, Karl Ratzer, Susanne Weinert, John Abercrombie, Christian Rover, Garison Fewell, Bob Mintzer, Ron McClure, Billy Hart, Adam Nussbaum, Clarke Fischer.

Krzysia Górniak creates illustrative music, saturated with subtle emotions, tuning to reflection. Her compositions are musical images of memories and fragments of life captured in sounds.
