The Memories album is a collection of fragments of life that are preserved in our memory. It begins with the song Strawberry Kisses, which I composed in June 2019. It is the time of strawberries and reminds me of the sweet beginning of summer, hence the reference to kisses. It is something pleasant, warm, something that we like to recall in our dreams on long winter evenings. Subsequent compositions such as Sweet Almonds, Sea Salt on My Lips or Cardamom Coffee lead us through musical stories after culinary adventures that remind me of meetings with friends. Sweet Almonds evokes emotions from a trip to the seaside, it is a memory of the scorching sun, the wind in my hair and the taste of sweet almonds. Sea Salt on My Lips is a song about those moments while sailing, when salt from the sea breeze settles on your lips. Cardamom Coffee was written under the influence of common conversations over coffee during rehearsals at my home. Coffee with cardamom is my bandmates’ favorite treat. There is also Travel, a memory of a trip to Italy with my friend Olga. There is a motif about running through the airport, a motif about sightseeing in the city and a motif where we relax by the sea. The composition Touch of Your Soul is dedicated to the memory of drummer Grzegorz Grzyb, who played on my album Moments and was a long-time friend. I wrote My Indian Summer, at the end of summer, when we already feel the arrival of autumn, but it is still hot outside. It is a lazy time of solstice, something that is irrevocably leaving. I dedicated this piece to a friend who passed away due to illness. The album Memories is a summary of a certain stage of my work and is dedicated to the memory of Winicjusz Chróst. Memories was his last album in his career as a producer….Krzysia Górniak

Review
Krzysia Górniak’s latest album “Memories” is as if tailored to our times. The album’s motto is unintentional, yet very relevant:
“The fragility of fate is a part of life and the more we realize the inevitability of transience, the more we appreciate the time we have left.” Krzysia Górniak

Review
“(…)Krzysia Górniak consistently makes recordings that aim to make the listener’s life more pleasant. This is jazz (of course!), which may not give the feeling of being in contact with something extraordinary, but soothes the senses, captivates with lightness, allows for intelligent escapism. And so, once again, the guitarist-leader, regardless of the trends in contemporary jazz (or maybe simply in improvised music) proves that jazz (I emphasize this on purpose) music can be light, easy (for the ear, because the material to be played may not be so simple), produced in a modern way (here, among others: Winicjusz Chróst), and at the same time sounding warm and intimate, original – although how sweetly familiar somewhere….” Wojciech Sobczak-Wojeński about the album Memories – JazzPress.pl 19.12.2020 read…

Review
“(…)Krzysia Górniak will follow in a way the path that Adam Bałdych once took. Both of them used to rely heavily on electronics, only to one day disconnect the current and enter the world of sounds that are closest to nature. There is as much current in it as is needed to transfer the waves generated by metal strings to our ears. The artist’s eighth album (Memories) is both a continuation, because it does not come from nowhere, it does not spring from the moon, but it reveals that jazzwomen is on a constant, unceasing journey towards the Mt Everest of jazz. Compositions like the one dedicated to Grzyb are something that only a few in music will touch. And it does not have to be assessed only in jazz categories, but in general music. Without division into genres and styles. Similarly to “Travel”, quivering, full of emotions. “Memories” is an album without flaws, absorbing like a good book or film…” Piotr Iwicki – codzienna.net read…
